The Vineyard Hotel & Spa in Cape Town has put together a series of exciting end-of-year offerings for guests and patrons. Set in the leafy green belt of Newlands, the hotel boasts a number of beautiful settings for those special celebratory occasions at the end of each year.
Whether it’s the magnificent glass-roofed Square Restaurant or the Binnehof Tasting Room the Vineyard Hotel & Spa has a setting that will appeal to every guest and is more than willing to accommodate any offbeat and unusual requests.
“Part of our core function is to give our guests a truly memorable experience. We have made it our purpose to create ‘tailored’ end-of-year functions and have received some unusual requests over the years,” explains general manager, Roy Davies.
“We’ve hosted corporate braais and picnics along the river as well as intimate wine-paired dinners in our Binnehof Tasting Room and at the Upper Deck of the Square. We like to ensure that guests get exactly what they want, and we don’t simply offer a list of standard options that are repeated year in and year out,” he explains.
The Square Restaurant has created an exciting menu for those who prefer to avoid a huge New Year celebration and opt instead for an intimate affair to usher in 2014. The first course includes a deconstructed prawn mille feuille with a salsa verde, wild rocket and pea macaroon.
For the second course, guests can enjoy a double-baked boerenkaas soufflé on a divine creamy mussel sauce with cashew nuts, followed by a palate–cleansing berry daiquiri sorbet. The main course is a succulent ostrich fillet with caramelised onion pureé and a delicious potato fondant with sundried tomato pesto. Vegetarians can tuck into a spinach and Danish feta roulade and sage beurre blanc. And then to end off the evening, indulge your sweet tooth with a duo of dark and white chocolate marquise with a raspberry gelato and candyfloss cherry consommé.
The New Year’s Eve 5-course meal is priced at R850 per person and includes live entertainment, a glass of bubbly on arrival and a glass of bubbly to welcome in the New Year.
