If you missed the PCO Alliance Network’s Event Safety for Dummies event that took place on Friday, 04 June 2021 as a hybrid event, you can catch up on this on theplanner.guru.

At the end of last week, the PCO Alliance Network hosted the Event Safety for Dummies workshop. This took place as a hybrid event on 04 June 2021, and was brought together with the aim of getting the industry event safety ready.

Emceed by Neil Nagooroo, the panel was comprised of members of the PCO Alliance Network as well as representatives from the City of Johannesburg’s JOC. Event organisers, PCOs, event managers, travel agents and venues joined the discussion.

In her opening address, Ellen Oosthuizen, PCO Alliance chairperson commented how important it is for the industry to understand the requirements of bringing together an event that meets all safety protocols.

“We need to know what is expected of all event organisers,” she noted.

Some of the topics discussed included:

• Covid-compliant safety protocols
• Emergency Management Services
• What should be in your JOC file
• SAPS categorisation
• JMPD
• Food and catering
• Structure certification

NOTE: The event kicks off at approximately 5 minutes and 45 seconds into the video, with a half-an-hour break around the 53-minute mark.

Event Safety for Dummies was supported by the SA Events Council and the following sponsors:
